The common methods for toughness improvement of polymer are adding plasticizers, synthesis co-polymerization or graft-polymerization and adding impact modifiers. The impact modifiers for PMMA such as acrylic rubber, natural rubber, butadiene rubber or promoted semi-interpenetrating polymer network by mixing with Poly(urethane). The applications for tough PMMA are sanitary wear, architectural rainwater goods and hospital bed.
